The Miami Dolphins failed to make the playoffs this season, and they need to make some moves this offseason in order to become competitive again.

While star wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s future with them is in question, they need some reinforcements on defense, particularly at the cornerback spot, where they have a hole opposite Jalen Ramsey.

On Monday, they announced on their official X (formerly Twitter) account that they claimed Ryan Cooper Jr., who was last with the Seattle Seahawks, off of waivers.

Cooper, who is nicknamed “Bump,” played two seasons of college football at Oregon State University in 2022 and 2023, and in those two seasons, he posted 18 passes defended, five tackles for loss, four interceptions and 82 total tackles (52 solo).

He went undrafted and joined the Baltimore Ravens as a free agent last summer, and in late August, he was released and then brought back to be a member of the Ravens’ practice squad.

He briefly appeared in their Week 8 game versus the Cleveland Browns as a member of the special teams.

Miami ranked 10th in points allowed and fourth in total yards given up in 2024, but they have some holes to shore up on the defensive side of the football.

Ramsey, who is 30 years of age, continues to be an effective corner, but another effective one on the opposite side of the field would greatly help Miami return to the playoffs.

While they made the playoffs in 2022 and 2023, they haven’t won a single playoff game since the 2000 season, and their fans are starving for some real postseason success.
