The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves at a crucial juncture as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches.

Despite this class lacking depth at quarterback, Pittsburgh may have an opportunity to address its need at the position.

Though considered unlikely, Shedeur Sanders falling to the Steelers at No. 21 overall remains possible.

According to draft analyst Todd McShay, head coach Mike Tomlin has developed a strong affinity for Sanders as a prospect.

“Steelers HC Mike Tomlin ‘really likes’ Shedeur Sanders and is highly considering drafting him at QB for them if he’s on the board at pick 21, per Todd McShay. Sanders would thrive under Tomlin,” Dov Kleiman wrote on X.

Tomlin’s interest in Sanders has become apparent throughout the pre-draft process.

If the draft breaks favorably, Sanders could emerge as the quarterback Pittsburgh commits to building around.

Sanders remains one of the draft’s most intriguing prospects. Once projected as a top-five selection, his stock has experienced a slight decline under intense scouting evaluation.

His accuracy and playmaking are unquestioned, but debates continue regarding how effectively his game will translate to the NFL.

The uncertainty has caused several quarterback-needy teams to reconsider their thoughts on Sanders, potentially allowing him to slide further down the board than initially expected.

Should he remain available when the Steelers pick, they might find the opportunity to solve their quarterback situation too tempting to pass up.
